I hope i'm allowed to ask this here since i'm not a bunny but a bunny fan.
I was wondering how long a bunny costume lasted, from the time it was put into a bunnies circulation and untill she got a new one to replace it.
How many costumes for instance did a bunny working full time go through a year?
Thanx everyone.

Hi BunnyFan,
Speaking for myself....... At our club, we were fitted for our Bunny suits and then a wide range of Bunny suits, of various colors and patterns were viewed, by our Bunny Mother and her assistants (I think) and selections were then made, for each particular Bunny. Once a suit was chosen for us, we were given a "swatch" of the pattern, or color, (I still have them all) so that we could go and purchase high heels, to match the colors. Most of us, could never find the right shade, so we always had the shoes dyed. I remember a "Wonder Bread" suit, (red, yellow and blue polka dots, on a white background).....which most girls did not care for......and we prayed not to be given that one. LOL
I had at least 6 suits, probably more. We had the option of wearing whichever one we wanted. I worked full time, for two years and I don't recall any of them falling apart. We rotated wearing them, which helped and I suppose they were fairly durable. We turned them in for laundering, after wearing....and I believe we did the same with our tails, cuffs and collars. I do remember brushing the tail, to keep it fluffy and spraying it with perfume.
We also even polished our high heels! Wow. (Unless they were satin) And we NEVER took our shoes off, during a shift.....much as we were dying to. The shoe would never get back on the foot (we learned the hard way) because we were on our feet for so many hours, our feet would naturally swell. If you kept your shoes on, you were ok. If you took them off...... and then tried to put them back on......oh, the pain. And then you had to walk around and smile, while your feet were feeling like they were shoved into a shoe, which was 2 sizes too small. We only made that mistake once. Keep your shoes on!
Thanks for your interest. It's fun to recall Bunny memories.
Love,
Sandy

Thanx for a great answer Sandy.
I had been wondering about the suits for some time since some bunnies were pictured in so many different ones.
I was looking through your photoalbum and really love the light-green suit you had, did you have a favorite color/pattern?
Thanx again

Hi BunnyFan,
I didn't really have a favorite color, per say,...... but I guess I did favor the lime green suit. And then the blue one. If I had to choose a least favorite.......it would be the red and green flowered suit. It was such a "busy" pattern. AND it was not fitted correctly...as you can painfully see in some of the photos. Unfortunately for me, I had to wear that one on opening night. (We only had one suit at that point.) I was very self conscious that night, because of the bad fit, so I put extra make up on.....bright lipstick, etc........ hoping to distract........LOL
Once, we began to accumulate different suits, I retired that one.
I might add, that to the best of my knowledge, (at least in my case) the colors and patterns of the suits, were not chosen by the Bunnies. They were chosen for you. By the Bunny Mother, I believe.
Lucky for me, I am pretty easy to please, so I really didn't mind what was chosen for me......aside from that suit, which was not fitted correctly.
I know that a lot of the Bunnies, wanted the solid black suit. So I think that would be the suit, most clamored for, in our club.
Love,
Sandy

Thank you for sharing the stories Sandy, you have no idea how much I enjoy reading them.
And I thought I also saw a gold costume on a bunny of the year, I wonder what the difference between Silver and gold was. Anyone know?

The reigning "Bunny of the Year" for each club wore a silver costume.
Including from 1970 onwards at the annual "Bunny of the Year" pageants.
The winner of that pageant was then crowned international "Bunny of the Year". A gold costume was then made for her and she would undertake a promotional tour of Playboy Clubs around the world wearing that costume. _________________ Alan, Webmaster

Thanks Gayla.
I know "20th Anniversary Bunny" Danita Jo Fox had a silver costume made, but I wasn't sure if the silver costumes pre-dated the Bunny of the Year pageants.
I think inidividual Bunnies of the Year had silver Bunny costumes made for them from the mid-60s onwards, but I didn't know about anniversary costumes.
